Can I directly enrol in higher-level exams?
Unfortunately not! There are no comparable Chinese character examinations and certificates existing, so you cannot skip levels.
How many retries do I have?
For any exam purchased, you have one retry free-of-charge.
How to you avoid cheating during the exams?
Firstly, all examined sinographs are printed on the certificates. So whomever you are presenting this certificate may easily select any of the characters to question your knowledge concerning reading, meaning, and writing. So there is simply no reason to cheat.
Secondly, due to the structure of the exam questions, and the short overall available time for the exam, cheating such as looking up a character in a dictionary is extremely difficult.
Are the sinographs tests easier than the HZC tests in China?
Yes and No.
On the one hand, yes, the HZC tests available in China are more difficult because you have to manually write the characters by hand, whereas at Sinographs.com, you may use any input method (such as pinyin) to enter a character.
On the other hand, no, the Sinographs.com tests are more difficult because they comprise not only comprise simplified characters but also their traditional and seal script forms
What is the difference between the sinographs tests and the HSK test?
HSK is testing your modern standard Chinese language skills concerning reading, writing, and listening comprehension. Although some (not all!) characters are required to write, the HSK exam is focussed on vocabulary (often consisting of more than one character) and grammar.
The test at Sinographs.com on the other hand, focus on the characters themselves and their reading, writing, meaning, and usage.
The relationship between Sinographs.com and HSK for Chinese is similar to the one between Kanken and JLPT for Chinese.
While sinographs test are not necessarily only useful for Chinesee studies (you may also use this platform for you Korean, Vietnamese of Japanese studies), passing our exams is a great preparation for the HSK and HCZ exams in China: Our levels correspond 1:1 to the levels of HSK/HCZ!
